17 Jun Thank You for Making Our Benefit Such a Great Success!
On behalf of EVC board members, staff, and students, thank you for making our 2013 Benefit Premiere Screening such a great success! We proudly honored editor Sloane Klevin and psychologist and radio host Dr. Fritz Galette. We spotlighted EVC alumni Shakeima Cooks andChristine L. Mendoza, and premiered two new youth docs, Beyond Bullying and Journey to Survival: Youth Reflections on Dating Violence, now available on DVD by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. This year, we also presented a paid internship to EVC student Jasmin Tate (below) from the Judy Doctoroff Fund for the Next Generation of Documentary Journalists. Check out our Facebook Page for event photos from board members Torrance York and Sara Zuiderveen.
Big thanks to the 2013 Benefit Committee, EVC Alumni and Manager of Development & Communications Theresa Navarro for their months of planning and hard work. This night was also made possible with support from our friends at the Film Society of Lincoln Center, as well as generous donations from HBO, the Open Society Foundations, Union Editorial, Caryn Maclean, Madeline Helfand, Sherri Wolf, Torrance York, and hundreds of individual donors. A round of applause for our incredible food and beverage donors, including: Baked by Melissa, Numi Organic Tea, Sprinkles Cupcakes, Trader Joe’s – Chelsea, Whole Foods – Chelsea, ‘Wichcraft, and Wrapido. Finally, two thumbs way up to the contributors of our first-ever “youth producer swag bags”, such as: A&E, the Film Society of Lincoln Center, Luna Bars, MTA, Numi Organic Tea, New York Sports Club, and WWRL.
Again, we appreciate your support of youth voices and visions over the last three decades – we invite you to keep in touch and definitely stay tuned for what we have in store for our 30th anniversary in 2014!
