Moving Without Direction explores the environmental conditions that motivate young people to join gangs. The film tells the personal stories of two EVC Youth Producers, Muzik and Isaiah, chronicling their journeys with gang affiliation and the impact their experiences have had on their mental health. They turn stereotypical narratives upside down by providing first-hand insight into the personal, family, and community struggles that so many gang-affiliated youth face. Moving without Direction is a powerful call for healing, told from the perspectives of individuals who are directly impacted by gang affiliation.
A film produced by high school students who participated in EVC’s Youth Documentary Workshop, 2017.
