Programs
Summary of Programs
EEP provides workshops and resources in media production and EVC’s methodology, including EVC’s Youth Powered Video DVD Curriculum, for K-12 teachers and after-school educators, nationally and abroad.
“As a teacher I try to have my students create their own learning and develop their own understandings. Documentary production is a unique and very meaningful way to do this. I see the active learning taking place as they make sense of their topic – violence against women-- and put ideas together. I’ve always wanted to use video as a teaching tool with my students and with EVC’s support in my classroom they made it a reality.”
- Social Studies Teacher, Satellite Academy High School, New York City
At EVC, we believe there is no better way to teach students the power of storytelling and community inquiry than to give them the tools to become researchers, producers, authors, and editors. We also believe there is no better way for teachers and after school youth instructors to develop the skills needed to implement this inquiry-based method than for them to experience it themselves as hands-on learners and to have ongoing support in the classroom.
Customized to fit the individual needs of teachers and/or out-of-school educators, EVC’s External Education Programs provides:
* week-long “Youth-Powered Video” institutes
* after school and weekend workshops
* in-class coaching
* online forum
* curriculum resources.
